Q&A

Below are some commonly asked questions. Please feel free to contact us with further questions any time.
  • I already have a relationship with a corporate partner, why would I work with the Corporate Engagement Center?

The Corporate Engagement Center is here to support, not replace your efforts and relationships. The Corporate Engagement Center works alongside faculty and staff throughout the University, in academic colleges, centralized offices, and elsewhere. Our goal is to support, enhance, and strategically coordinate the efforts of these different teams wherever possible. Because we work with teams across the University and within corporations, we often have a “big picture” view of the relationship, opportunities, and goals that lead to deeper, holistic engagement.

  • How do corporate partners begin a research collaboration with Penn State?

Directors of corporate engagement have developed an intake process to work closely with our strategic corporate partners to determine their goals and areas of interest in order to vet their needs. Then, we help guide them through establishing and nurturing a sound relationship with Penn State researchers, saving time and effort for both our corporate partner and Penn State researchers. We work with the extended team, University leadership, and research databases to help identify appropriate researchers and opportunities based on our partner’s specific needs, arrange introductory meetings or conference calls, and interface with other administrative offices. Our team can connect our partners with the experts at Penn State to employ a Non-Disclosure Agreement, where appropriate, to handle the disclosure and receipt of confidential/proprietary information between company representatives and University researchers. We can also connect partners with the right experts to help them select, very early in the process, the appropriate contract mechanism to achieve their goals within the necessary timeframe. If you feel you have a research opportunity that could be mutually beneficial for the University and a corporate partner, please contact the Corporate Engagement Center.

  • How can I get my corporate-facing event on the Corporate Engagement Center’s calendar of events so that companies are aware of the opportunity?

Please send the following information to corporations@psu.edu or in the contact form:

    • Name of Event
    • Contact Person (with email and/or phone number)
    • Date of Event
    • Brief Description (with links to event website and/or registration site if applicable)
    • Any Sponsorship Opportunities (with levels and benefits of sponsorship)
  • Does the Corporate Engagement Center work with all companies interested in partnering with Penn State?

While we offer support and resources for all levels of corporate engagement, the directors of corporate engagement focus on large, multi-national corporations with interest and activity that span Career Services, research, and strategic giving across multiple colleges, campuses, and/or units in the University.

  • How do I work with the Corporate Engagement Center?
